Gift Economy at SMS and starseed
A gift that gives eternally.....is a gift that rests in its place of need for a while, giving energy and support, and then, with the hands and heart of its holder full and ready to release, it moves on, enriched by the energies of its past and blessed by the fullness of its last holder. It fills and empties, swells and shrinks, expands and contracts, continuing and evolving with each transit from one to another, escaping the grasp of entropy with its movement and volition to change.
This is how a new and sacred economy is born and creates an eternity of sustenance for human life.
May we all gain the knowledge, wisdom and Empathy necessary to plant the seeds of this idea in the fertile soils of all industry at SMS.....starting with the Starseed environment. Something as simple as a toy or classroom pet, could perhaps 'live with' a family/learner for a time, and then move on to another's abode.....
And tuition? What is tuition?
"protection, care, custody," from Anglo-Fr. tuycioun (1292), from O.Fr. tuicion "guardianship," from L. tuitionem (nom. tuitio) "a looking after, defense, guardianship," from tuitus, pp. of tueri "to look after" (see tutor). Meaning "action or business of teaching pupils"
When did its meaning devolve to 'fee'?

What food for thought and discussion! I did not know that was what tuition actually meant. Very interesting.
ReplyDeleteI would love to educate myself a bit more on gift economies and went to click on the link you added, but it isn't working. Can you post the web address you were trying to link to as a comment here and then I'll see if I can put it in the link list?
